I am a little behind but not by more than a week.
This particular article mentions HP/liter no fewer than three times. Since HP/liter is my favorite thing, this naturally pleases me.
But yeah this is cool. Ford got to 500 N/A HP only 9 years after the LS7. /snark
Ford Voodoo 5.2L flat plane crank V8
Re: Ford Voodoo 5.2L flat plane crank V8
More Ford-haterade: it took a 3 valve 4.6L to finally hit 300hp N/A in 2005 in the Mustang GT. I'll remind that the Camaro Z28 had more than that 7 years prior.

Less Ford hate:
An 8000 RPM V8 will sound pretty cool.
More Ford hate:
Looks pretty bulky for only displacing 5.2L.

Oh I'm sure it's a great engine. I just don't think HP/liter contributes to its greatness.

Not to its greatness, but maybe this: http://forums.kevinallenmoore.com/viewt ... 2&start=10kevm14 wrote:Oh I'm sure it's a great engine. I just don't think HP/liter contributes to its greatness.
Re: Ford Voodoo 5.2L flat plane crank V8
8000 RPM will make it the highest revving domestic production engine ever, right? I have a feeling I would like it since I like Ferrari V8s with similar stats.
Re: Ford Voodoo 5.2L flat plane crank V8
I'm almost positive that is the case. Especially about the Ferrari V8s.Bob wrote:8000 RPM will make it the highest revving domestic production engine ever, right? I have a feeling I would like it since I like Ferrari V8s with similar stats.
Some notable high-redline domestics:
'70-'72 Chevrolet LT1(Z28/Corvette) - 6500 RPM
'69-'70 Ford Mustang Boss 302 - 6250 RPM
'89-'95 Ford Taurus SHO - 7300 RPM (fuel cutoff) - doesn't totally count as this was a Yamaha-designed engine
'91-'93 Olds Quad 4 W41 w/o A/C - 7400 RPM - if you opted for A/C, you could only get 7200 RPM
'90-'95 Corvette LT5 - 7200 RPM
'06-'13 Corvette/Z28 LS7 - 7000 RPM
'12-'13 Ford Mustang Boss 302 - 7500 RPM
I'm probably forgetting something. The late-model performance version of GM's "high feature" V6 produced its power peak at 6800 RPM, redline might be at or just above 7000 RPM.

'02-'04 Ford Focus SVT - 7500 RPM
