Caprice engine swap?

Re: Caprice engine swap?
I think I just like to feel like I am upgrading. I already did the Fleetwood thing like 6 years ago. I want something that's more. Larger, nicer, faster, better handling. The 750iL does those things, and I happen to already like it very much.
A Fleetwood with an LS swap would address one of those very significantly and the others not at all. Which is at least a conversation worth having I guess.

It's a protection version for extra heaviness: http://newyork.craigslist.org/brk/cto/5442578804.html
Re: Caprice engine swap?
A couple folks at work are obsessed with the Protection. And I obsessed about it briefly this morning.
Re: Caprice engine swap?
That thing almost looks Bentley-esque.
Wheels + something with the headlights....and does the Protection actually change the roof/door line a bit? 750iL Protection checks every box. Ha.
And by the way - a regular 750iL was around $100k. What the hell did the Protection cost??

OMG
Road Rage Mobile!Normally, we'd exercise prudence. After all, these could be gangbangers, and they could be packing. But we're in a BMW 740iL Protection, see, so we display their IQ count, raising a single middle finger. Hey, what are they gonna do? Open fire? We have thick bullet-resistant glass with polycarbonate skins (to retain glass splinters in the event of damage from projectiles) and aramid armor in the doors and bulkheads. What's more, we have Michelin run-flat tires that can take a round and still keep the car on the road. Also, heh-heh, the car weighs 4780 pounds, enough to punt those little bald bastards into the canyon without breaking a sweat.
Re: Caprice engine swap?
This was back when 4780 lbs was heavy!
Re: Caprice engine swap?
Yeah that's just a Hellcat + a corn fed passenger.
4,780 isn't even that bad for what it is. But given the modest 322 hp from the M73, I don't know if I want that extra weight. After all, it's not like there are many ways to mod the M73 for more power (cheaply).

Some base MSRPs for fun:kevm14 wrote:And by the way - a regular 750iL was around $100k. What the hell did the Protection cost??
2001 740i: $62,900 (how affordable)
2001 740iL: $66,900
2001 750iL: $92,100 (side note: this is another reason I want the 750 - most stuff is standard - the V12 itself doesn't cost $25k extra)
2001 740iL Protection: $99,400 (big jump, but maybe more stuff is standard)
2001 750iL Protection: $124,400
Maybe I need a 750iL Protection.
Anyway, that means that one owner 2000 from Brooklyn had like $120k of depreciation, plus who-knows-what maintenance/repairs.
