If you can get over full-throttle acceleration performance, the 307ci drives fine. It can accelerate "good enough" to keep up with traffic and has no problems maintaining highway speeds. It does make ~250lb-ft, which is something. I was even able to get 25+ mpg on several occasions in the Cutlass, but that was before E10...
It is probably very similar to how the 150hp LG4 drove in my dad's old 83 Caprice wagon. Pretty slow, and pretty damn unacceptable 7 years later in what is supposed to be the flagship of Cadillac.

Has there ever been a stronger sign?

And if that wasn't good enough, a local parts car!

Despite the sketchy Arkansas area code, this guy seems legit so far. No real indicators of scam, since he is open for me to come look at the car (i.e. no shipping or eBay BS).

Things I've learned via text so far:
- Located in Norwood. Cadillac Village of Norwood is where my CTS-V was serviced in a previous life. Been there before. I think it is at the crotch of I93 and I95.
- "Runs and drives good, no major issues with the car"
- I asked about any warning lights. "Nope no lights"
- I asked about interior/exterior pictures. I didn't hear anything for almost an hour and figured maybe this deal was done. He comes back with "Yea I can give me about 30 min." Nothing yet but that's something.
- I then said I appreciate it and sorry for being a pain. He said "no pain."

So far so good, I guess...

That's good. I wonder if the interior is rough.

As with any $1200 car, I would keep expectations low. But for that kind of money, you can justify parting it out or scrapping it if there's any major stuff needed.

When is the caprice's inspection due?

These guys are the enabler for people who drive old complex cars, especially European ones. They do the SAAB's SID, but they also list 20+ electronic items they repair for the BMW 7-series 95-02. Usually it's pretty cheap, send the item to them (they're in MA) and they send it back in a week or so.
