And this is what happens if you don't replace your timing belt before 160k.

It gets a new engine.

I have to say I like the slight facelift on the 98+ cars.

The only redeeming quality of these cars is the high mileage stuff. I find that interesting. Otherwise, it's E38 all day.

From my experience with the SC400, the 1UZ-FE engine is actually pleasant to work on. It is also an incredibly smooth engine, if that's worth anything.

The LS400 is just so sterile and boring. It can't handle, at all. The performance of the 98+ is decent, which is good. But conceding the E38 just makes me feel like I should keep hunting for a B/D-body.

Here is a list of 750iL's that I can afford (under $3k).

The one in Norwood is actually something I can test drive without driving for hours, and it's also in my price range. The check engine light is on, which is exciting.

I know what Bob will say.

For almost $2k, why would I not get this?

Here's one way to look at it.

Probability you are forced into daily driving the Ranger during the time you are doing the LS swap on the Caprice:

LS400 - <5%
750iL - 65%
