Wow! That is a sweet ride. I have always really liked these. These are the last of the big boxy boats. Could you accept cruising in a boat? I don't think these had suspensions like the Caprice. I also kind of think you ruin the point by changing the stock suspension in this car. Anyway, $6,500 in that condition is almost on par with the 1980's Monte. I guess old, outdated but good condition with a niche 30 something year old market = $6,500.

93 FWB...but you have to read the description.

To his credit, the air intake lid on the 93 already looked like there was a carb under there...
Seats are nice...

The suspension is exactly the same as the Caprice. I knew plenty of folks who built essentially a Fleetwood SS (or FTS if you will) from the 93-96 body style but I've NEVER seen anything like that on the 90-92 body style. Sadly I think these are a bit out of my reach.

However I am currently obsessing over the idea of a ~95-01 750iL...

So Ed taught me something fun today. Go to eBay, select 8, 10, 12 cylinders, RWD, and pick a max price. Try $4,000. Tons of interesting stuff.

Including this:

Now here's a backseat that appears to handily beat the Fleetwood.

And notice he's not cheating. Look at where the front seats are.

So if I was going to go E38, it seems like the 750 would be the way to go. It is an older SOHC engine design and apparently is actually fairly stout.

And no, I don't really think this is a Caprice replacement. At this point I am just enjoying the idea of driving different cars. There are many cars out there. I think I always want to have a B-body. Yes Bill, I can sell the CTS-V...

Well this is annoying. Not one 750iL within 1000 miles of me on Search Tempest below $7k. Man, they want 90-92 Brougham money for them!

Next up, the 750i. Do I want that, or a 740iL in this totally fictitious decision?

Same deal with the 750i. They are hard to find. This makes them interesting.

Meanwhile the 740iL is all over the damn place.

I had the S80. It only took a few months to totally get that desire out of my system. The desire to drive a large, totally unreliable luxury vehicle. I am over it. Sure the BMW is bigger and probably a little better.

I'm not over it. I don't know if I'll be ever over it. The largest, nicest, sportiest thing is something I've always liked. An Impala SS is the closest thing made in the 90s that would match an E38. And it probably does match the performance envelope of a 740i. While it is comfortable, it is nowhere near as fancy. Which is why doing up some kind of Fleetwood SS/FTS is appealing and I think I could justify that as a Caprice replacement. Caprice suspension stuff, Caprice 3.42 axle w/ Truetrac, the wheels. I could do that on the cheap and have something cool right away. I think color combo would be important to me. I prefer the 95-96 update (mirrors really).

EDIT: Crap. I can't swap the axle or else I will lose ABS and traction control. Goddamnit. That's where the RMS comes in, I suppose.
