Well, here it is, for better or worse...

I think the styling is very safe, but the comments are not good. It definitely doesn't look as bad as I thought, maybe it is growing on me. The initial reports don't paint it as extreme as one would have expected though. At least at the lower end. The 4 banger is supposed to be under 6 seconds, vs. the turbo 4 Mustang being 5.2 or 5.5. So it sounds like they will be neck and neck, which is a race that nobody cares about. This is pretty close to the MazdaSpeed3 (5.7). I guess I shouldn't be complaining, the 2010 SS was like 4.8 I think, so there is that...

The SS gets 455 HP, Brembos, and optional Magna-Ride, which is great.

WTF with the fake exhaust:
Yes, like the Mustang and a billion German cars, the Camaro will feature engine-audio enhancement.
Super lame:
The 2.0T models all will have active noise cancellation and will even pump fake noise into the cabin if you get the upgraded Bose stereo.
Consolation prize:
Chevrolet makes a point to note that the aural fake-itude can be switched off, though, which is nice.
Ok, well that is good.
What?
Camaros equipped with the two larger engines get induction-noise resonators—pipes that feed intake noise directly to the interior
If this means a manual baffle that can be triggered to open or close, that is awesome:
—and offer dual-mode active exhausts that can be set to “stealth” mode to avoid pissing off any neighbors you might actually like.

yeah, adding some programming to the stereo that simulates engine noise is fine, especially if you can turn it off. Adding a 'sound pipe' (something VW did at one point, and probably still does) is stupid unnecessary weight.

I suspect many people will turn off the fake noise, if they realize it's there.

The problem with the fake noise is, I think they feel like if someone is doing it, they all have to do it. If they don't, they risk their car "just not sounding as good as [XYZ car]." Rather than explain "well, you see, we're taking the purist approach and letting the engine sound organically speak for itself," they'll just join 'em. Sucks.

Plus, who will buy Flowmasters if all you have to do is turn up the volume on the stereo?
