So the real problem is that the new safety risk is smartphone use while driving. Kids don't care about cars so they aren't even really speeding that much (compared to the past when that's all we had).If we were to be zapped back to our teenage selves this very moment, we’d certainly exhibit most, if not all, of the bad driving behaviors Teen Driver aims to curb—speed, drifting, jamming out to sweet classic rock at full volume—but kids these days more likely are texting or checking Snapchat, not rocketing around like they’re trying out for a seat in Formula 1.
All my stupid behavior and risk taking taught me how vehicle dynamics work. These kids won't really learn anything, which goes with my rant about dumbing down society with safety nannies to save us from ourselves.
However, this is a good point for the kids who still DO care about driving:
On the other hand, the information in the reports could become a video-game-like “achievement” field for some kids. Mad at your parents? Nail that top speed or try to initiate as many “stability control events” in the shortest distance possible.
