Thankfully they improved the ICE, which was the least impressive part of the original Volt. A lot lighter, more powerful, and efficient.
C/D: A look at the 2016 Chevrolet Volt
Re: C/D: A look at the 2016 Chevrolet Volt
Everyone who wanted more serial hybrid is going to have to sit in the corner and deal with reality.
Of course, "more often" just means when it is in range extending mode. And fuel economy has improved from 37 to 41 MPG on gas, and EV economy is up to 102 MPGe which is pretty good considering it's hauling around the range extender ICE.“the most efficient thing to do is to take torque from the engine to the wheels. So we will actually do that more often.”
Re: C/D: A look at the 2016 Chevrolet Volt
All EV range is now 50 miles (rated so results will vary up or down).
Re: C/D: A look at the 2016 Chevrolet Volt
Over 200 lbs lighter is the report. This is great news.
Re: C/D: A look at the 2016 Chevrolet Volt
Also importantly, there is now a third seat in the back. It's nothing awesome but it's available for occasional use which is kind of all you really need anyway.
Re: C/D: A look at the 2016 Chevrolet Volt
The third rear seat is pretty sad, but it is for occasional use only. I do use the rear middle for the baby seat now. I'm not sure how that would fit in the Volt.
