Heard this happen yesterday on the bridge. Sucks. Good news: it's only $72 on the dealer website ($120 at parts counter) and they stock it. It's just double sided tape so the hardest part will be cleaning off the old stuff. Ironically I had to do this on my Roadmaster, too....

The only catch is they do recommend ordering the front door and front fender trim because the part was updated and it may not match. So whether it is ugly enough to want to spend more, we will have to see. But at least I'll have the trim in place for my trip.

Re: 07 S550: Rear door trim flew off
Went through the new touch carwash last week. It was....kinda violent. And I lost the left rear door trim piece. Sigh.

Front pass door chrome strip is also getting loose so I should get one of those, too.

Done. This glue is no fun to remove. First pass using heat and a plastic scraper (I only have a trim removal tool). Then brake cleaner and elbow grease. Finish with IPA to prep the surface for the new piece.kevm14 wrote: Mon Jan 20, 2025 12:58 pm Went through the new touch carwash last week. It was....kinda violent. Is one year the correct amount of time to wait to do this? That's how long I waited. But I did buy a 3M wheel to aid adhesive removal.kevm14 wrote: Sat Mar 29, 2025 6:50 am Front pass door chrome strip is also getting loose so I should get one of those, too.

Step 1: wash off the crap from the area. I just used a wetted shop rag with some car wash soap.
Step 2: try my new thing

Boy did this save time! Just used my Ryobi drill and it made fairly quick work of removing the gooey adhesive without burning the paint, just like it says. I used some 3M adhesive remover which I'm not sure did more than other chemical attempts previously: https://a.co/d/07goyvNp
Finished with IPA.
Apparently I am 2+ months past the "expiration date" of the new trim. Hopefully it stays on. Seems fine.
