Agreed - it's probably fine to just suck it up for now. My plan is to replace it in about 2 years when it is just shy of 100k, hopefully before I have to make any major expenditures on it (another timing belt replacement would be due at 120k, tires should make it 2 more years). I'm not sure how much luck I'll have selling it private party since no one even knows what a Rondo is, much less goes out looking for one. Selling undesirable vehicles is uncharted territory for me.

FYI, that Civic went for $5,950. Don't worry, I was not the winning bidder.

I think that's actually a pretty fair price. I have a feeling it will be worth much more than that someday if someone keeps it nice.

That might already be happening. Or at least KBB isn't keeping up with things. The book value is only $3900.

Has it? We discussed ownership costs of various vehicles, showed ownership costs don't necessarily decrease by getting rid of an older car and buying a high-MPG car and identified a future collector car. I declare it a win.

That's true. As long as it turns out not to be practical to buy a Civic, I can deal with that.

Actually, with appreciation that car might be the best buy. Cheap insurance, low maintenance, reasonable MPG, and appreciating value. Sounds like a recipe for success!
