This isn't starting out well. You'd think he'd give it a little more respect - as EV cars go this IS the regular car.

...93 mph, why 93, blah, blah, blah...
Because that's 150 kpm, which is a nice round number.

I think RCR has been in decline lately. The reviews have been poorly researched with more poop jokes than actual facts or interesting information about the cars.

Yeah I mean the main analytical section of the review was about the interior...

Yes, and I fully expect a car in this segment to have a cheap interior because a huge portion of the cost is in the battery, especially when you're talking about a 60 kwh battery.
Also, the Bolt isn't a $40k car if you're willing to shop a little. A quick check of Autotrader reveals several new ones available around $30k. Factor in the federal tax credit and you're at $22.5k. This is an incredible value considering what was available for this price in this segment even 5 years ago.

I had a hard time believing (but haven't looked it up) that a cloth seat Bolt would even MSRP at $40k, before all discounts and credits.

It appears that you have to move up to the Premier package to get leather. MSRP of this is $41,780.

I actually agree with RCR even though I can't stand him sometimes. Look, if you want to say hey, "if you really want an electric car, we can get you one in the 30's but it is going to have the interior of a total piece of shit." Then this is ok, priority is on "needing electric". But don't pretend that this competes with other 30K cars. This is not the "the electric car is finally equal to gas cars" car. It just isn't. If this car was like 18-20 new, maybe. not at 50% plus more.
Just to further clarify, this is the electric car version of me wanting an options stripped muscle car and Kevin saying he can get options for very little more so the stripper car sucks. Well RCR is saying this is a way too expensive electric stripper car. I tend to agree at 30K and especially at approaching 40.
How did GM not learn that interiors matter with all the bad reviews of the molded foam/plastic interiors of the 90's? I'm looking at you Grand Am, Grand Prix, F-Body, etc...
I actually want to like the Bolt, but seriously, the exterior is stupid electric car styling, and the interior really looks terrible. It isn't nice at all. My 2009 base Mazda3 interior is light-years better and my car brand new was $15,500.

And this car brand new is about $22.5k.

If you watch the Doug DeMuro review you'll see the parts of the car covered that are actually significant rather than RCR's weird rant.
