This is a similar take on the old saying which I will paraphrase:Why did you choose to be liberal, libertarian, or conservative?

My three phase transition:
1.Liberal as a young adult because society seemed unfair and discriminatory. Why should people try to force upon others their idea of what is wrong? Compassion ruled.
2.Conservative as a working family man because society seemed to be at odds with my financial needs and moral values. Why should people try to force upon others their idea of what is right? Morality ruled.
3.Libertarian now. Why should people try to force upon others … anything but the protection of the basic rights to life, liberty, and property? Wisdom rules.
"If you aren't a liberal at age 20 then you have no heart. If you aren't a conservative at age 40 then you have no brain."
Of course this new thing called libertarian popped up over the past 20 years which I think covers a larger portion of the population than many people realize.
