Briggs makes a lawn mower engine - no oil changes required

I saw this engine featured on a Toro (for $360) in an Ace flyer. I looked it up. This is kind of funny. Though I will admit that Briggs engines for years have unofficially featured "check and add" technology because that's what people did with them. And they'd still last forever.

What did they do? Switch to synthetic?

It seems to have oil cooling but I am curious about filtration.

That is what I was wondering too. I didn't see an engine life expectancy range anywhere either...

I wonder if the goal here is to eliminate the used market.
You never need to change the oil! Just don't try to sell this one on Craigslist: good mower, never had it's oil changed......$100
