Yes. I have heard of this. As the only transverse LSx engine, it makes perfect sense. The Malibu SS never had a V8 though. Kind of annoying that a site like that would get it wrong. Impala SS, Lacrosse Super and I think the Grand Prix GTP. All W-bodies.

I dunno why people hate on the LS4 so much. I have a '07 Impala SS and I absolutely love it. Plenty of power and the fuel mileage for a V8 is good too. I've gotten upwards of 28 mpg on the highway with mine. I guess the big reason people hate on it is because it doesn't set up for your typical hot rod swap.
The drivability of the LS4 is very good. And so is highway fuel economy, even with the old 4T80-E.
