Looks like GM is getting a V8 Twin Turbo power plant ready for the new CT6.

Now, if we could get that in a smaller package Buick... Maybe they can make a respectable GN!

Interesting the different opinions out there. Some folks are like "Cadillac needs to build a big cushy luxury car again." Bill, is that you?

Twin turbo V8 is actually more interesting. I mean a new V6 is fine but the only V8s GM makes are the Gen V series. Do they have the balls to put a twin turbo Gen V in a car like the CT6? Does the world respect the small block enough yet to pull that off?

Cadillac is going to debut a new generation of V6, if the 2016 GM VIN decoder is to be taken at face value. Same displacement as the current 3.6L (give or take a few cubes), but its described as 'GEN2', which makes me think its a new generation of the High Feature architecture. The ATS and CTS will be getting it. RPO code is LGX.
It's fun to be a GM powertrain enthusiast.

The headline itself isn't news. There is just some detail in the article that may be worth a glance.

Wow. It is worse than we thought.

The flagship is getting a turbo 4, a N/A 6, and a TT 6 to start out.

Not how I would have done it... Should be TT 6 to start out, with an 8 and TT 8. Nothing less than these 3 for a Cadillac flagship.

No the CTS is getting the 2.0, not the CT6. Or did I read it wrong? It would be fairly normal for the CT6 to get the 2.0 turbo in a China-only application of the car, however. But that's their market (big cars, small engines).

The 3.0-liter V6 will be the top engine choice when the CT6 goes on sale, joining the 2.0-liter turbo four-cylinder already found in the CTS sedan, as well as a new version of Cadillac’s naturally aspirated 3.6-liter V6.
That sounds like all 3 will be in the CT6 right?

Yeah I guess. But I'd be shocked if it was sold to us that way. As much as they don't want to admit, the CT6 is for the Chinese. Also, we have to remember CT6 is just the flagship of the time. There will be even better ones to come. The brand direction makes some sense even if you don't agree with the nomenclature. CT6 isn't some random flagship sedan, even though it seems to have been named randomly. It's a part of a larger brand vision.
