Caprice engine swap?

Re: Caprice engine swap?
From memory, it was a 1998 Jaguar XJ8 L with 140k for $1800.
Re: Caprice engine swap?
I am guessing this is a 4.3, but I don't know enough to know for sure: http://winstonsalem.craigslist.org/cto/5428912073.html
Re: Caprice engine swap?
Can't see the dual exhaust and no VIN. So not enough info. Probably an L99. Usually LT1 ads contain key words such as the following:
- LT1
-Corvette
- 350
- Runs out good

Re: Caprice engine swap?
I had a dream that someone who knew the Norwood guy was texting me that the guy was having trouble communicating with me. I woke up excited and checked my phone for a text. Nada.
I got a call an hour ago from an unfamiliar number and thought it might be Norwood guy. It was not. Does this mean anything?

Re: Caprice engine swap?
I would say the car is gone, and the guy doesn't feel like letting everyone know.
Re: Caprice engine swap?
Oh I forgot one other thing.
Last night when I was coming home from work, a clean E38 740iL drove by. Black, light tints, M-Parallel wheels. I want that. I need that. Except with 12 cylinders for extra....something.

Re: Caprice engine swap?
I would be fairly comfortable placing the M73 as more reliable than the M62 (4.4L V8 in the 740), if only because of the inherent simplicity of the M73 with SOHC and no variable valve timing. I don't mind a bit of old school in a car like that.
Re: Caprice engine swap?
Fun facts about the M62:
- It didn't get variable valve timing until 1998. So maybe I shouldn't be totally afraid of a 94-97 740iL. Except I prefer the 98 refresh.
- The VANOS didn't seem to change the power much but it did add torque and broaden the torque curve. I don't think the 98+ M62 gives up much performance to the V12, though I know I would prefer the sound, smoothness and 360 lb-ft of the V12.
- To be exact, the M73 has 40 hp more, and 35 lb-ft more than the M62 w/ VANOS.
