It's been 30 minutes. There must be one under $8k by now.

I'm sure there are. This was only searching my local craigslist. Nissan Leafs are also dropping fast - there are some below $7k and all of them seem to be low mileage because it's pretty hard to accumulate a lot of miles 60 miles at a time.

I should make a spreadsheet that takes gas prices, electricity prices and miles driven into account to figure out when the Volt makes sense.

I wonder if I would be enthusiastic enough about a Volt for it to actually be a daily driver.

I think it's trending in a good value direction. Obviously cheap gas is helping to push the resale down. I have had significant seat time in the Volt and I will say it would make a solid, if unexceptional (other than operating costs), daily driver.

Time to revisit this thread again.

https://charlotte.craigslist.org/cto/d/ ... 45303.html It's kind of ironic that the ICE died before the battery pack. I bet not many people were expecting that 8 years ago. This could actually be a good budget daily driver project for someone, depending on what the issue is with the ICE.

Yeah I dunno. I would assume lax oil changes or perhaps an unidentified consumption issue that turned into running on low oil on a recurring basis.

Yeah that's pretty affordable. The Volt was a stop gap and thus from a utility standpoint, has rapidly aged. In terms of sheer economic efficiency, the Volt didn't make more sense than a regular Prius even at the time, but it did fill a niche and start a path toward the mainstream EV. They also beat everyone on plug-in hybrids for a good while it would seem.

Price drop to $9,500. This is a good commuter for the money: https://charlotte.craigslist.org/cto/d/ ... 90087.html
