KBB trade-in in very good condition (so assuming the steering wheel and seat are no longer an eyesore) is $5464. Private party is $7762 in same condition. If we say the seat and steering wheel devalue the car all the way down to Fair condition (which it probably does not considering those are probably the only real flaws) private KBB is $6962. Trade-in in fair condition is $4868. I am sure the dealer that took this car made a big deal out of the seat and steering wheel.

Google maps via Tappan Zee. 225 miles. Leaving tomorrow at 2pm gives an est travel time of 3h 50m to 5h.

Bing maps really wants to take the GW bridge. I'm done with that. So Bing maps via Tappan Zee. 228.6 miles. Leaving tomorrow at 2pm gives an est travel time with traffic of 4h 42m or 4h 1m without traffic.

I guess I'd like to plan for 4h 30m figuring we can beat the time if we don't stop. Which would mean we could be there for 6:30 if we leave at 2pm or possibly a bit earlier if we can leave more like 1:45.

Actually that doesn't take into account driving to my house to drop off my Caprice. That will add a few mins. I'm figuring 6:30 to 7pm.

But that all depends on what his reply to me is. I noticed a TPMS warning on the dash in one of the extra pics he sent. Typically it is just a sensor/battery (replaced as one unit). But I sent a message saying, in effect, the car can have no lights, warnings or issues like that. Hopefully he says he'll take care of it. Much easier to deal with these things when shopping locally.

Things to bring:
- OBD-II scantool. Can't stress this enough. Sadly I don't have a good one that can talk to the other modules so this will at least let me ensure the computer hasn't recently been reset. Looking for all systems ready with no lights.
- GPS unit. That's another thing I forgot to ask him - does the nav work (i.e. does it have the DVD in it)
- Flashlight just in case
- E-Zpass for trip home. I will try to get new velcro on the way into work tomorrow so I can stick it on the windshield.
- Stereo RCA to 1/8" adapter for tunes from phone. I should double check that this is correct and if I can even find one anymore.
- Check book!!!

Did I miss anything?

Checklist on car (I will probably ignore this but making this list will help I hope):
- Full exterior inspection, body, glass, wheels, what little I can see of the under carriage like checking for leaking shocks.
- Try to see if all speakers work or if the system at least sounds right. It is supposed to be very, very good.
- Check for working nav (DVD present)
- Heated and cooled seat test. Heated steering wheel. Power seats. Rear HVAC stuff
- A/C test depending on temp.
- Windows, sunroof
- All lighting

Driving:
- Adaptive cruise
- Suspension (no noises, no bouncing, good damping especially in Performance mode)
- Engine noise and general performance, must be smooth
- Trans performance
- Steering (play, tracking)
- Try to send power to the front by putting the back wheels on some sand or something. Transfer case test.
- Brake function. Smooth, good pedal, good overall performance.

Confirmed. This should be part of the fancy nav/audio/infotainment package. This thing has an 8" screen. That is quite large for 2005.

The video input won't work while driving but it should let the audio pass through.

Given that there is almost an hour difference in eta times, I would say we should plan to leave work ASAP. I also don't think we should even stop at your house. That is going to put us out like 20 mins and that could be the difference of a 4 or 5 hour drive, that whole extra hour being sitting in traffic. I think the big range is because we are leaving right on the edge of hitting rush hour.

I think the plan should be to leave from work at 1:30 and try to get through the Tap'n Z as early as possible. I am shooting to be at work early, and we can calmly put everything we need in my car first thing in the morning. That way we can walk out to the car at 1:30 and leave. I can't stress this enough. Monday is like the worst commuting days because even people that telework usually go in on Monday.

The time to get there if we left now - 6:17 PM is 3 hours and 43 mins. Just shows how bad traffic is going to be...

While driving we should look at traffic on 15 in CT compared to 95. According to this if we took 15 instead it is an extra 3 minutes, but if 95 is a parking lot, this might not be a bad option.

Alternate route possibility:

Don't forget the computer test in the car checklist.

Shouldn't be a problem.

How about 2 way radios?
