So I think the 42xx and 52xx use the same optional lift lever.

This is from my machine's manual (look at item B):

This is just a rendering but I'd bet it is the same, since the snow thrower stuff is all compatible.

Now, look at the 6516 that I found. This is up to garden tractor grade from my machine, which is sort of split between the two grades.

Wow that is more than just a handle, isn't it. Makes sense since it has to lift up a snow thrower, so there are some kinematics there going on I think. But is this the same as the one for mine? Well here is the manual rendering.

A fancier machine than mine, but it looks like this lever is standard on the 65xx series, since these are more likely to do actual garden tractoring. I am just trying to expand my search criteria (and not buy a parts machine if I don't need to). The lever may be the same...

Maybe the 6516 is not the compatible model. Maybe it is the 6216. Or maybe they are both the same?

Alright here are the 4000s and 6000s that list compatibility with the 1691521 thrower, which is the same as the 0547 number I believe:
4212
6512.5
6516
6517

These are the ones that I am deeming in the same family as my 5212.5 but there may be more.

And here is a similar list of machines compatible with my listed hitch frame for the 36" single stage thrower:

6212.5 (was not in the thrower list, because it lists the alt number 1690547 which I think is identical)

So...I think I am getting somewhere. Now what I don't know is if the 62xx/65xx long lever is identical to what was essentially an accessory lever on the 52xx and 42xx. If it was, then one avenue is to simply track down a 62xx or 65xx parts machine and steal the lever/hardware. Still needs more research.

You will notice it lists basically all the 62xx's and 65xx's. So if the mysterious long lift lever (that was an accessory for the 52xx and 42xx machines) is in fact just the factory lever from the 62xx and 65xx, then I guess I found it. Problem is the picture from CL from that 65xx does not look the same. Maybe I need more data points.

We might have a used one available, I'm having my guys check on that and will get back later today hopefully. In the meantime, I attached a parts diagram for the unit, if you wanted to see what #'s you're needing, I can see if we can piece together what you're needing. Let me know what you come up with. I just noticed that the eBay link has the model number of my deck in there. That is a good sign as it would make sense that the lift lever and my deck are somehow made to interface (the accessory long lift lever would replace the short lift lever my machine shipped with, and be responsible for all lifting duties). In other words, once you add the long lift lever to a machine, there is no reason to remove it. It is a very annoying, but critical, detail.

Of course, in some future world what I could possibly see is upgrading to a heavier machine with hydraulics but honestly the 42" deck is the perfect size for my yard, so I don't really even want a bigger, more unwieldy machine. Or, I guess a world where I have a heavier tractor with a good snow blower setup for winter, and my existing machine for grass/leaf duty. I'd need to get a big shed and all that.

I am looking for the optional lift lever (typically associated with the snow blower attachment) for my 5212.5H. My machine is a 1691473. This lift lever appears not to have a separate part number that I can find. Also, I am not sure, but the lever may be compatible across the 42xx, 52xx and 65xx lines. Sorry for the delay. Our techs got slammed early this week, but I will see if we can get over to our storage warehouse today. We've acquired around 50 different Simplicity/Snapper/Toro snowblower attachments and over 100 snowblowers over the years, so there's a lot to dig through. I'll definitely get back to you as soon as possible.

I'd buy everything from them if they were local...probably not shipping a thrower and hitch frame from Wisconsin.

Now here is an interesting find.

1691522, which is the listed thrower for my machine according to Partstree. Some highlights:
- 42" swath as opposed to the 36" ones I was looking at before
- New paint and otherwise great condition
- Comes with a lift lever....of some kind
- It is in PA. Looking at about 260 miles but almost 4-1/2 hours according to Google Maps.
- Getting the lift handle, if it is correct, might make that worth it though not knowing if I want this, and jumping to the 42", plus the upper market pricing nowhere near me, makes me less excited.

What I need to do is get the hitch P/N from him and if it is a 1690556, then there is a very good chance this is exactly what I need. I believe the hitch 1692239 would also be acceptable. But only those two as far as I know. Definitely not the 1690557 which it could be.

Bill made an interesting point that the wider swath may actually improve maneuverability since it gives a wider cut, meaning more room as I back up before the tires dig into snow.

My other concern is that 36" was also as wide as I'd really want with a 12.5hp engine. Of course I could always take smaller cuts. It does seem more bulky and with a wider swath more likely to have traction issues.
