Outside looks reasonably clean, but the seats are bad.

Also, someone might want to tell them there is a such thing as a GM to single DIN adapter plate

The description doesn't quite read as a scam either. Maybe they just mistyped.

I'm still thinking about this car. I still haven't driven one. So that all checks out.
I just think I need to get a car like this before I get the real Caprice replacement. I am a little more worried about my inspection in May after I watched that guy go over the SRX pretty thoroughly. Then again, my father in law and I were discussing this and they may in fact have a (conscious of sub-conscious) sliding scale of expectation depending on what the car is. In other words, I bring a Caprice with 300k and they aren't going to evaluate it as if it is a new car. They certainly would want to point out egregious safety hazards but, as an example, if you wiggle the wheels on a B-body, it's not going to be super tight like a modern car, even with brand new everything. So there is some legitimacy to my theory. I think my Caprice meets a reasonable standard of safety as it sits, because what they really are looking for might be something like this:
- Completely wiped tires, like cords showing on one side or something awful, or like a donut spare that has been on way too long
- Wheel about to fall off (bearing) or like totally spanked steering components
- Brake noise you can hear on the 5 mph drive into the shop bay
- Exhaust missing or largely failed
- Giant holes in the floors (I do have holes in my frame at the rear...)
- Giant crack in the windshield (I have this now)
- Active fluid leaks where you can see it drip just while idling (coolant, oil, etc.) - I like to do the car wash with undercarriage before inspection to minimize the attention my leaks get - it's wet under there
- Smashed lighting assemblies
That's my theory anyway. I don't begrudge them for the things they said the SRX needs - it needs them. But if it was the Caprice, I think they may have passed both the tires and the tie rod. The Caprice also doesn't ever seem to need bulb replacements and it is ridiculously easy so that is a non-issue as well.
