The W222 thread
Re: The W222 thread
I think 2018 was the update, when they added the active curve feature. So no S600s would have it.kevm14 wrote: ↑Mon Nov 04, 2024 10:31 am 2017 supposedly saw an MBC update. But they also dropped the 19" wheel which is annoying. This particular one has magic sky control which is rare but is missing the 3D audio. This is the second one that is like that despite that being standard. I guess they got a credit for it (it was like a $6400 option though).

2015 S600 just listed on BaT: https://bringatrailer.com/listing/2015- ... nz-s600-6/
I expect this will go in the mid-$40k range.

Re: The W222 thread
Things this example doesn't seem to have are limited to:
- Heated windshield
- Splitview entertainment in the front
- Rear fridge (it's very removable so I wonder if adding it back would be similarly easy, like if the plug is already there or something)
I think that's it. It has the 20" multi-spoke and both a designo exterior color and designo interior.

Adding fridge info:

I think the fridge with the longer neck is required for the premium second row recline.

Re: The W222 thread
This sure is a W222 thread. This article seems to reflect reality: https://www.motortrend.com/reviews/2018 ... ass-sedan/
Seems we're back to the S560 unless an S65 reveals itself for a drive near Charlotte somehow.
S560 pros:
- Facelift so you get a car with 2018-2020 styling instead of 2014-2017 styling. Notably on the outside that's the three DRL pattern (last to get the C=1, E=2 and S=3 pattern).
- With that, you also just get a newer car period. A 2018-2020 does make more sense to upgrade to from a 2014 than a 15-17 does.
- Substantive updates with the facelift which are numerous, but randomly, I think the AIRmatic was overhauled and does even better ride/handling things than before, no clown steering wheel, better Distronic Plus with Steering assist, Carplay/Android Auto....there are probably other benefits.
- The S600 was NOT available with the AMG styling package but the S560 was and I do like that personally - I think you are stuck with 20s no matter what anyway.
- The M176 + 9A plus 4Matic seems to offer a more satisfying city driving experience than the S600
- Seems the 19" wheel was standard....probably rare
Cons:
- Hard to find with the good options, like 811 audio, and, well, most of the shit that was standard on the S600...
- "Not a V12" ?

Re: The W222 thread
S65 pros:
- More special than any S560
- Has all S600 stuff. Plus AMG styling which was unavailable on the S600 and I personally like it.
- Unlike the S600, all S65s should have 811 audio
- All S65 wheels are forged
- Good M279 noises
- Maybe easier to find than either the S600 or a loaded S560
- Unlike the S600 hopefully it feels strong even in city situations. Obviously it will get considerably stronger as speed builds.
S65 cons:
- Going to pay more but may be worth it
- Unclear if suspension tune is acceptable or too compromised like the S63 was. They are totally different so it may be ok.
- Unclear if the MCT situation will be acceptable for normal city driving.
The last two would be confirmed or denied with a good test drive. If they are both ok then the only remaining con would be price. At least so far.
